I am Dr. David Horton, Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate supervised under Dr. Paul Jurek. I received my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Social Work, and then went on to earn my PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Woman's University.  During my time at TWU, I conducted therapy at the counseling center, eventually becoming the Acting Director in the Director's absence.  One of the reasons that I pursued a master's degree in social work and ultimately a doctorate in family therapy was because I wanted to assist others in realizing their ability to live a fulfilling life.  As an individual who grew up with a physical disability, I learned that the greatest limitations that we have are the ones we place on ourselves. And, I believes in the innate ability of everyone to achieve his/her dreams.

In conducting individual, couples, and family therapy, I create a supportive and confidential atmosphere wherein I may help clients deal with change and improve communication and problem-solving skills.  I particularly enjoys working with clients with disabilities and their families, as I understand the challenges they may encounter and the impact of disabling conditions on the family system.  Please note that my disability causes a speech impediment (slow speech) and some physical limitations; it does not affect my clinical skills.

Treatment Orientation :  EMDR, Emotionally Focused, Family Systems, Feminist, Interpersonal, Multicultural, Relational, Strength-based, and trauma-informed therapy.

Fees/Insurance Accepted:  Dr. Horton's full fee is $135, with a sliding fee based on household income/number of dependents.  

 

He accepts referrals from "Open Path Collective" at a reduced fee; and accepts Cigna through supervisory billing.
