Iris Barton, MS, LPC Associate
About Me.
am Iris Barton, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate.
I am passionate about working with children, teens, and adults to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and work through the difficulties of life. I am especially passionate about working with survivors of trauma and strive to create a safe space for clients to process these experiences and build self-compassion.
I am experienced in working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and I specialize in trauma-informed care.
I use play therapy in my work with children because play is a child’s natural language to process their experiences and understand their world. Play therapy fosters emotional expression, flexibility, and adaptive coping skills in a safe, child-led environment. I actively involve caregivers in the therapeutic process as to ensure that progress in the playroom translates to progress outside the playroom as well. I use activity and expressive arts activities with teens to meet them where they are at developmentally. I try to foster an environment of safety and curiosity for my teenage clients to be able to explore themselves and build self-esteem.
I earned my graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of North Texas in 2025 with a focus on adolescent counseling and play therapy. I am trained to work with individuals across the lifespan and especially with survivors of childhood trauma and abuse. I would be honored to have the chance to walk alongside you on your path to healing.
