Mya Smith, MA, LPC Associate

About Me.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, supervised by Meggan Havelka, LPC-S, I believe counseling is a collaborative process where clients are supported, respected, and empowered to create meaningful change. I strive to create a safe and welcoming space where clients can be honest about their experiences, explore challenges without judgment, and discover the strengths and tools they already possess.

I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. My counseling approach is collaborative, creative, and goal-oriented. As a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) counselor, I help clients recognize patterns in their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and explore how these patterns may be impacting their lives. I also incorporate mindfulness into sessions to help clients develop greater awareness, stay grounded in the present moment, and respond to difficult experiences with intention.

Together, we work to identify practical coping skills and therapeutic tools that can be useful both in and outside of the counseling room. My goal is to guide clients toward growth while honoring that each person’s journey is unique. I believe therapy should be a space where clients can better understand themselves, build confidence in their ability to navigate challenges, and move toward the goals that matter most to them.

My areas of focus include play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, stress management, neurodivergent communities, life transitions, anxiety, and depression. I work with clients to better understand their behavioral and emotional patterns, develop effective coping strategies, and build skills that support lasting growth and well-being.
